Youth Activities Committee

The Youth Activities Committee (YAC) identifies and develops fun and community related services/programs for children with incarcerated parents and young adults from low-income families.  YAC programs include girl scout troops, competitive step team, school community service activities, etc.  All activities focus on social and emotional awareness, leadership and self-sufficiency skills 

Education & Workforce Development

The Education & Workforce Development Committee (EWDC) supports the

Education and Training Director and the free community workshops held monthly. 

They also maintain a database or career ecosystem within the county by establishing relationships with developers, business owners, and training providers. They identify vocational skills necessary to fill current and upcoming vacancies and work with training providers to ensure high-school and young adults are aware and prepared. 

Scholarship Committee

The Scholarship Committee is responsible for reviewing and awarding scholarships for qualifying individuals based upon agreed criteria and subject to available funds. These awards are for children of incarcerated parents and career development for young adults from low-income families.

Mistaken Identity Community Affairs (MICA) is a grassroots committee of community leaders and advocates that focus on solving key issues affecting children of incarcerated parents and career development for young adults from low-income families.

Fundraising Committee

The Fundraising Committee works with the Executive Team to implement the strategic direction and management of fundraising activities for the foundation including solicitation, sponsor/donor management and planning the annual dinner, and sponsors breakfast.

The Event Committee is responsible for creating a comprehensive event plan including goals/desired outcomes and theme of the annual dinner. They may also support the other committees with their annual fundraising events.

Legislative Affairs

The Legislative Affairs Committee plays a critical role in the development and execution of MI's legislative strategy regarding the issues identified by MICA.  They work with our public relations and lobbyist firms to determine the best course of action to communicate these issues to our elected officials in Annapolis and on Capitol Hill.
